Maré cheia na Costa da Caparica. Não estamos, sequer, no período de marés vivas nem esta maré é particularmente alta, mas o mar envolve o fundo das escadas que conduzem ao areal, totalmente submerso.
Esta é uma das consequências da erosão costeira e do galgamento oceânico que ocorre nesta franja do litoral português, a aguardar por mais uma intervenção de alimentação artificial de areia nas praias, prevista para este Verão.
Soluções? Não tenho, à excepção do recuo da linha de costa antes que o Atlântico banhe novamente a arriba. A confirmar-se, num futuro próximo, a subida do nível médio do mar, talvez não existam respostas ( nem sejam necessárias à data… )
High tide in Costa da Caparica. We are not even in the period of spring tides nor is this tide particularly high, but the sea surrounds the bottom of the stairs that lead to the sand, completely submerged. This is one of the consequences of coastal erosion and ocean overtopping that occurs on this stretch of the Portuguese coast, awaiting yet another intervention to artificially replenish sand on the beaches, scheduled for this summer. Solutions? I don’t have any, except for the retreat of the coastline before the Atlantic bathes the cliff again. If the rise in average sea level is confirmed in the near future, there may not be any answers (nor are they necessary at the time…)
