No coração da serra, junto à quinta do Major, corre o Baságueda. Rio nascido no coração da Malcata por aqui passa no seu caminho até à barragem, já fora da reserva natural.
No verão a paisagem é luxuriante, vibrante e com uma luz fantástica e o rio permite a sua passagem a vau sendo possível subir a encosta adjacente e rumar à linha de fronteira.
Felizmente o acesso é difícil, sendo aconselhado o uso de viatura todo o terreno para o efeito, sendo quase impossível atravessar o rio no Inverno devido à subida do seu caudal.
Quando digo que felizmente o acesso é difícil sou egoísta perante a beleza do local mas também porque não desejo que este local seja normalizado pelo uso humano e muito menos pelos maus hábitos que frequentemente temos para com a mãe natureza.

In the heart of the mountains, next to Quinta do Major, runs the Baságueda. The river originates in the heart of Malcata and passes through here on its way to the dam, outside the nature reserve. In summer the landscape is lush, vibrant and with fantastic light and the river allows fording, making it possible to climb the adjacent slope and head towards the border line. Unfortunately, access is difficult, and it is advisable to use an all-terrain vehicle for this purpose, as it is almost impossible to cross the river in winter due to its rising water levels. When I say that fortunately access is difficult, I am being selfish in light of the beauty of the place but also because I do not want this place to be normalized by human use, much less by the bad habits we often have towards Mother Nature.
