Esta edificação foi fundada em 1571 pelos Frades Capuchos de São Francisco, resultando das instâncias dos notáveis locais, civis, públicos e religiosos.
Com o fim das ordens religiosas ,a partir de 1834, o edifício teve usos diversos até ser entregue à Misericórdia, em 1946.
Sóbrio na sua arquitectura, salienta-se a fachada, no exterior, assim como o altar-mor, o púlpito e as figuras sacras no seu interior.

This building was founded in 1571 by the Capuchin Friars of Saint Francis, following the urging of local notables, including civil, public, and religious figures.
With the end of the religious orders in 1834, the building underwent various uses until it was handed over to the Misericórdia in 1946.
Its sober architecture highlights the exterior façade, as well as the main altar, pulpit, and sacred figures inside.
