A Reserva Natural da Serra da Malcata é um património natural que possui uma enorme riqueza ambiental, paisagística, faunística e de flora, que importa potenciar e desenvolver em matéria de atividade económica e de turismo, conferindo-lhe uma riqueza acrescida, mas sustentável, contribuindo igualmente para o desenvolvimento dos territórios onde se insere.
Com o intuito de preservar e desenvolver este património natural único foi criada, em 2021, a Comissão de Cogestão desta reserva natural que engloba os municípios de Penamacor e do Sabugal, sendo a Câmara Municipal de Penamacor, na figura do seu presidente, a entidade que preside a este organismo.
Nesse sentido, considerando o enorme interesse e fortíssimo empenho do Município de Penamacor no desenvolvimento deste património natural único e mediante apresentação de proposta de levantamento fotográfico procedi, durante 2024, ao registo imagético da Serra da Malcata.
As fotografias aqui apresentadas são um pequeno espelho de um trabalho profundamente enriquecedor e de descoberta desta valiosíssima riqueza natural, paisagística e ambiental que é a Serra da Malcata.
Muito mais há e haverá por fotografar ( e filmar ) num território que, sem malícia mas de uma forma subtil, revela detalhes e encantos a quem o vai calcorreando, explorando e descobrindo.
Por tudo isto e pelo voto de confiança manifestado no meu trabalho expresso os meus agradecimentos ao Município de Penamacor na pessoa do seu presidente, Dr. António Beites, ao Dr. Vítor Gil, coordenador da vertente estratégica e operacional deste projecto, e aos trabalhadores municipais que me acompanharam nas deslocações em viatura todo o terreno a locais mais inacessíveis.

The Serra da Malcata Natural Reserve is a natural heritage site that has enormous environmental, landscape, fauna and flora wealth, which is important to enhance and develop in terms of economic activity and tourism, giving it additional but sustainable wealth, contributing equally for the development of the territories where it is located. With the aim of preserving and developing this unique natural heritage, the Co-Management Commission for this nature reserve was created in 2021, encompassing the municipalities of Penamacor and Sabugal, with the Penamacor City Council, represented by its president, being the entity responsible for presides over this body.
In this sense, considering the enormous interest and very strong commitment of the Municipality of Penamacor in the development of this unique natural heritage and through the presentation of a proposal for a photographic survey, I proceeded, during 2024, to the imagery record of Serra da Malcata.
The photographs presented here are a small reflection of a deeply enriching work and discovery of this invaluable natural, scenic and environmental wealth that is the Serra da Malcata.
There is and will be much more to photograph (and film) in a territory that, without malice but in a subtle way, reveals details and charms to those who walk, explore and discover it.
For all this and for the vote of confidence shown in my work, I express my gratitude to the Municipality of Penamacor in the person of its president, Dr. Antonio Beites, to Dr. Vítor Gil, coordinator of the strategic and operational aspects of this project, and the municipal workers who accompanied me on trips in all-terrain vehicles to more inaccessible locations.
